@obubba_app: I created OBubba after experiencing just how overwhelming those early months of motherhood can feel. The exhaustion, the second guessing, the constant worry that you’re doing something wrong. I wanted OBubba to take some of that mental load away. But yesterday, a mum told me that parts of the app had done the opposite. She felt anxious. She felt pressured to follow the data. And when OBubba suggested changing a doctor’s appointment because it conflicted with a nap, she understandably felt that the app wasn’t fitting around real life. Reading that hurt. Not because she left a negative review, but because she felt something I never wanted another mum to feel because of something I created. So I didn’t want to defend it. I wanted to listen. I went back through OBubba and looked at where we could do better. How schedules respond to real-life commitments. How we communicate when a parent hasn’t had enough rest. How our language can reassure rather than alarm. And how we remind parents that predictions are guidance, not rules. Because your baby’s routine should fit around your life. Your life should never revolve around an app. Babies aren’t spreadsheets. You don’t have to log everything. You don’t have to follow every prediction. And a difficult day doesn’t mean you’ve done anything wrong. OBubba is supposed to feel like part of your village, not another voice telling you that you’re failing. I’m grateful this mum told me. We’ll get things wrong sometimes. But when we do, I want OBubba to be the kind of company that listens, learns and actually changes.
