For people who are confused if you dig a hole and the sides are heavy they will collapse that’s why mining is dangerous and why they put reinforcements to make sure that the walls dont collapse it seems like they dug a shelf and when they were digging it fell onto them it can happen in small holes my grandpa experienced something similar it’s common

Trench collapses are serious. So freakin sad. Sand is not stable compared to like the Midwest and clay. Happens a lot unfortunately

I’ve had a trench collapse on my legs at work, just from the knee down I was buried, and it is incredible amount of force. These poor kids, and the mothers wailing, these poor cops and rescue workers. This is just awful for everyone. [Teary eyed]
