I grew up doing ALL of the “right” things and some. Got Hodgkin’s lymphoma at 21. Now my favorite activity is to remind people of that when the topic of “don’t do this thing or you’ll get cancer” comes up

The guilt we are supposed to feel for getting cancer is NEXT level. People and their opinions can take a jump..

I ended up having a 30 minute conversation with my bestie reassuring him that he didn't have to replace all of his cutting boards,he was releivsd bit also a little pissed he got so emotionally invested. I get it and fear mongering hurts everyone. there should be more regulations on non accurate "News style" articles that are adds in disguise and obvious are so even though these platforms are very aware of advertising law.

I saw a dr post something similar on instagram and the comments were full of people saying things like ‘of course you’d say that, that’s how you keep your job’ 🙃 or ‘she didn’t say what does actually cause cancer’

Plastic chopping boards are the least of our worries. I work in the environmental sector and what really scares me is the sheer volume of pesticides and endocrine disrupting hormones being pumped into our food and water supply thanks to factory farming. And of course, micro plastics in everything. My personal belief is that if we can solve the climate crisis, the chemicals crisis is going to be the next major concern for humanity and nature...

I read an article about a 25-year-old woman who developed breast cancer. She had given birth to two children, was active in sports, didn't drink or smoke, was a vegan, and led a thoroughly healthy lifestyle. A friend of mine died of a stroke at the age of 35. He was actively involved in sports, a vegan, didn’t drink or smoke and led a thoroughly healthy lifestyle. The exact same scenario played out with a female colleague of mine. So, yeah...
