CHARLIE BROWN • PART 2 Apparently Charlie decided if he did it once in Part 1…he needed an encore. 😂 A little hop. A little leap. A little airborne pony action. That's a pony for you. 😂 But once Charlie gets that out of his system, we pick up exactly where we left off in Part 1 and continue working through his front feet. As I'm trimming, I'm talking you through what I'm seeing and WHY I'm making the adjustments I'm making. With a new horse, I'm not just looking at how much hoof I can take off. I'm paying attention to hoof balance, growth and wear patterns, the sole, frog, hoof wall, how the horse is standing and how he's moving. And with Charlie, we also have his stifle injury to keep in mind. When a horse has an injury or physical limitation, holding a leg up for the farrier may not always be as easy or comfortable as it looks. That's where patience comes in. Sometimes you give them a second. Sometimes you change your position. Sometimes you put the foot down, let them reset and try again. And apparently sometimes…you let Charlie Brown practice his bunny impression. 😂❤️ He's a sweet little guy, and we're getting to know each other. That's part of taking on a new horse too. I'm learning Charlie, and Charlie is learning me. The goal isn't to fight with them. It's to get the job done safely while working WITH the horse you've got standing in front of you.
