I think a lot of it does ultimately come down to comparison. But it’s deeper than just “I want the best” at its root cause we are inundated with guilt of not being good enough or not doing enough. I don’t know one single mother who thinks she’s doing enough. She can’t provide the right things, she can’t parent right, she can’t be a good enough daughter, can’t be a good wife… it’s AWFUL
