For those saying it's too hot, humid etc take a comparison to Singapore. Covered walkways, shaded paths, comfortable walkways and ample crossings at points along any given way. And yes, when properly executed people use them.

We will become a high-income country once we solve this unfriendliness toward pedestrians.

I did a 45-minute walk from Kuchai Lama MRT station to Thaitae restaurant, Kuchai Lama. It was an obstacle with shops blocking the walking corridors, jaywalking, jumping up and down drains, crossing two petrol station driveways without side pedestrian walk. It was hot and fun. A good sport indeed

This is long time issue with the town planning. Recently a lot of backlash over no proper walkway around the LRT3 stations and nearby commercial / residential. Malaysia cities aren't the most walkable tbh

we malaysian not seen that as problem. our problem is constant heat and rain. so we drive car or ride motorcycle. and infrastructure develop along that. that's why not much zebra cross/pedestrian cross or any pedestrian facilities. especially place that not much pedestrian. even 5minutes walk, already cover in sweat. so live with that or you should stick to crowded place like bukit bintang full of pedestrian and not some suburban place. do u get it. i believe it the same to any countries, differentiate between heavy crowded place and suburban place, the facilities will be different. and im not being rude or what, but just state the logic behind it.

Malaysia is a tropical country where the weather can be extremely hot and humid, with frequent heavy rain. That is one of the reasons why many Malaysians prefer driving rather than walking. It's not necessarily because we don't want to walk, but because the weather can make walking uncomfortable and impractical.
Yes, our pedestrian infrastructure can be improved, but calling Malaysia an unfriendly country simply because of this is an unfair generalisation. Every country has its own challenges, and ours are influenced by our climate, infrastructure, and lifestyle. Criticise what needs to be improved, but be fair when judging an entire country. 🇲🇾
