@gingerwithagopro: Still trying to find the words… but HOLY SHIT. That was intense. 😳⛰️ I’ve been hiking Table Mountain for years, and I’ve always heard stories about this ridiculously insane, technical route… but there was absolutely no chance I was ever attempting it alone. And I’d never had the opportunity to do it with someone who actually knew the route. So when Marc from @capetrek_za offered to take me…I said 1000% YES.But wow. I don’t think I quite understood what I was signing up for. 😂We started at Platteklip ..except instead of taking the normal route up, we headed right, climbed up Yellowstone Gully, scrambled our way onto an incredibly faint path following cairns, and eventually traversed Right Face Arrow Face - one of the most exposed and technical routes I’ve ever done on Table Mountain. Then we eventually climbed out via India Venster. And I need to say this: PLEASE don’t watch a video like this on Instagram and think, “That looks sick, let’s go try it.” Never attempt a difficult or technical mountain route alone - or even with a mate who also doesn’t know the route. Go with someone who knows the mountain and, more importantly, knows the specific route. There have been far too many incidents of hikers getting lost, stuck or needing rescue because they saw something online and underestimated what they were getting themselves into. Table Mountain is unbelievably beautiful ..but it deserves respect. You can literally see how slowly and carefully I’m moving in parts of this video. On exposed sections like these, one wrong move can have very serious consequences. Know your limits. Have the mountain rescue number saved. Tell someone where you’re going. And for technical routes like this, rather go with an experienced professional guide like @capetrek_za. Massive shoutout to Marc for getting me through this one safely. 🙌 And this mayyyyy just be the beginning of a little series I’ve been cooking up… 👀⛰️ Keep your eyes peeled.
