Mickey :
I went through something similar when I was young. Always said when I moved out, I wouldn’t speak to her again, wouldn’t even go to her funeral, and everyone and their mother said I would regret it. Guess what? Never spoke to her again, didn’t go to her funeral, and I feel fine. I likewise also moved in with my brother, and it sucked, but I’m out now and it was a valuable step. If I could advise anything, as tedious and annoying as it is, get loads of coupon books, and learn it well. It’s a valuable skill. Apply for a credit card that offers cash back, and buy (within your MEANS) the cheapest most knock off groceries you already get with that CC — or an expected amount, mine was with capital one and only my phone bill every month. Within a year I had a high credit score, which will help you in the future when you’re ready to move out. DON’T get a car with a payment plan, being newly licensed will have your insurance high enough. Get a used car from a private seller, not a company. Don’t touch the cash back in case a credit card bill comes up that you can’t pay, you can use it on that card. If you can save, even $1 a week, save it. That is not “your,” savings account. You act like that savings is a bill to pay, and it’s the first bill you pay. Back up plans too. Always be willing to live in an unhappier situation to get to the happier situation. I almost moved into a packed house with fifteen cats just to not go back, and because it had jobs within walking distance. You know what you’re doing when you make sacrifices like that. That’s all I have at the top of my head right now. Good luck!
