@trxckwrld_: A specialized rig hauling a massive cylinder became stuck beneath an overpass in San Antonio, Texas, after the top of the load struck the underside of the Loop 410 bridge. What Drivers Should Know * The crash happened around 6 p.m. near South State Highway 16 and Loop 410. * The top of the cylinder struck the bottom of the overpass, damaging the bridge and leaving the truck stuck. * The 61-year-old truck driver was not injured. * The truck had to be removed overnight, while emergency repairs forced a roadway closure for about 12 hours. * Loop 410 has reopened, but one eastbound lane remains closed while additional repairs are completed. Oversize and specialized loads leave very little room for error. Route planning, accurate height measurements and verifying every clearance along the route can be critical. Discussion Truckers, when hauling an oversized load, do you trust the posted clearance signs, your route planning, or both? #TRXCKWRLD #TruckingNews #OversizeLoads #Truckers #RoadSafety

I challenge anyone that has never seen a Texas permit to look at that permit from the beginning of the route to the end of the route and tell me if you understand just a quarter of it, I’ll never forget the first time I went through Texas for an oversize I could not believe half of what I was seeing on that permit, 0.6 miles FM 236 1 mile FM 101 13 miles SH 332 Loop 77 miles interstate 20.3 miles 0.3 miles FM 236, I mean it’s enough to drive a sober man to drink, and anyone hauls oversize through a lot of these states knows exactly what I’m talking about.

Probably misunderstood the permit. But you have to be a experienced hand to be a heavy hauler

Any other state but Texas would have required a high pole but of course Texas has the most relaxed rules on pilot cars but if he was on route he can’t go and measure every single bridge on that route to verify a load like that should have had a highpole and he would have been able to stop before the accident happened due to it

Who is hiring this dumb drivers who don’t know their own load height or ignore the sign that tells them the height of the bridge up ahead? Honestly I think this is more for insurance purposes only. 😑
