Handling a cringe work situation… Navigating the line between friendship and being a manager can be tricky, especially when boundaries start to blur. Two things often happen in situations like this: 1- You go along with it to please and then feel bad about yourself afterwards because it didn’t feel right. OR 2- You assert your authority and unintentionally “tell them off” which also doesn’t feel right as it causes a strain on the relationship.
