Recorded using historical instruments and restoring passages traditionally cut from modern performances, the four-disc recording reveals the extraordinary scale and richness of Rossini’s score. Gramophone praised Shagimuratova as a “lavishly gifted” coloratura soprano, while The Guardian described the recording as “dazzling”, with Shagimuratova and Daniela Barcellona “both singers at the top of their game”.
