I’m a GM tech. I actually had a 6.2 seize up on me. I was driving and stopped at a stop sign, and it just shut off and seized. No warning whatsoever. I can also say that it is beyond the recall years. I had a 2026 with a little over 800 miles that actually threw 2 rods through the block. It’s a bad situation and I think they are not being honest with the entire situation

A friend who installs LS swaps said when they install a high volume oil pump, delete the cylinder deactivation, replace the cam and lifters, they are not seeing these catastrophic failures. He speculates it is a combination of low rpm load forces on the bearings, the cam/ lifters and the factory oil pump causing the engine failures.

You know how you fix this problem you make sure insurance carriers don’t cover these vehicles! Because GM doesn’t seem to want to touch this.

GM, Chrysler and Ford are garbage. The only way to get their attention is to stop buying their vehicles until the financial pain forces them to start prioritizing quality. If toyota and honda can build quality vehicles, so can they. but, they have no incentive to do so as long as they're making huge profits. so to everyone out there, if you want to help them you have to show some tough love and stop buying their vehicles until they improve their quality dramatically. and that's not just out the door quality, but long term quality like toyota and honda.

I bought a 2015 sierra slt with the 6.2 in April of 2024 with 90k miles. within a few months it started misfiring under moderate acceleration. the misfire would come and clear its self out. in july of 24 a afm lifer collapsed and wiped out my camshaft. I got a new motor through my warranty company and was still having misfire problems. after I had 3 injectors and a new harness I traded it in and lost $ because it still wasnt right. on top of never ending motor problems, my 8 speed transmission blew up during this time as well. I loved gm products but after this experience I will never have another one.

Seen the other day in a video a shop had a Yukon in there for a 6.2 motor, when they installed the new motor and cracked it up the new engine locked up while it was still on the rack had 20 mins of run time, they pulled that engine and installed another new one.
