Ahem. Work on yourself. If you’re anxious, find out why, work on yourself, learn how to be there for yourself, and then you can be there for them. You can’t pour from an empty cup. Learn to set boundaries, and remember to acknowledge it when they do what you ask, even if it’s small. It’s hard. I’ve been with an avoidant for 2.5 years, he isn’t perfect, but I’ve learned to see how he shows his affection in the quiet ways. They aren’t always loud or flashy or public. Sometimes the fact that they’re still here is the sign. And don’t be afraid to walk away if they don’t meet you halfway. They can have their space, but they need to come back, and they need to try.

Boundaries. You need to set them. You cannot have any relationship with them without it.

it’s hard everything is on their terms they can be affectionate one day and the next doesn’t want to they constantly need their space but all of that has to do with trust they are afraid to be vulnerable

Leave them alone the moment they go distant on you and understand their actions of doing so doesn't reflect your worth

Get ready for them to ask you a million things of you to make them happy but soon as you list your 4-5 things for them, they will break up with you bc how dare you suggest they also be a little better in certain areas

simple, don’t, find someone grown enough to know their own emotions and isn’t afraid of love. Being with an avoidant is draining and hell in its own way. Walk away now.

You’ll spend the rest of your life chasing them. Even when you’re not the chaser…. That’s how desperate they’ll make you.

leave them they need help. this isn’t me bashing them but they genuinely need therapy and if they don’t want that for themselves then there is nothing you can do. let them work on themselves while you work on yourself.

Ask yourself is this the way you want to be loved the rest of your life? It has been almost 3 years since breaking up but 7 months of no contact because I couldn’t let go. I wasted so much time that I can’t get back- sacrificed having a family, getting married and most of all losing myself in the process.
