I always laugh when I see some ignorant students saying they don’t want to be friends with their coursemates because “they are this” or “they are that.” Sometimes, we forget that life is all about connections. No connection is too small—you never know where life will take you or where you might meet that person again. While in school, build genuine friendships. Your coursemate today could become your colleague, business partner, employer, client, or even the person who opens a door for you tomorrow. And please, don’t be too quick to join those saying, “Friends are backstabbers.” Sometimes, before blaming everyone else, check yourself too. The problem may not always be the people around you.
