The ammunition was reportedly discovered at Kanyonyo in Kitui County, during a security inspection of the vehicle. The rounds were allegedly concealed inside pieces of meat placed in a blue woven bag located in the overhead luggage rack near seats 23, 24 and 25. SECURITY CONCERNS The recovery of live ammunition from a public passenger vehicle raises concerns about the possible movement of ammunition through public transport networks. Authorities may need to establish the ownership and origin of the ammunition, identify the individual responsible for transporting it, and determine its intended destination and purpose. RECOMMENDED INVESTIGATIVE AREAS Authorities may consider reviewing the passenger manifest, interviewing the driver and conductor, obtaining statements from passengers seated near the affected luggage rack, and examining available CCTV or other relevant records.
