i fucking love this movie and i loved this twist at the end. but more than that i loved that she dismantled him so intelligently. before this his main source of being grounded was his best friend, who he lost in a war he didn’t even have to fight. and she let him know that. before this scene she said he would have to earn her respect. during this scene she confronted him with the truth in a way that had zero hand holding, no concern for his ego whatsoever. but this blow was brutal not just to his ego, but to his heart. he had lost his best friend over this deception. and now he realizes how futile it was. but instead of taking it out on her he chooses to leave. and he deals with the situation, and his feelings, admirably. and when he comes back, he asks her to promise to only ever tell him the truth, as she just did. he won her heart in that moment.
