Having her directly in front of him proved to be yet another distraction, because before Draco even had time to think, Hermione sent a jinx straight at him. He didn’t block it or dodge in time, and the next thing he knew, his legs had been knocked out from under him, sending him crashing to the floor. He quickly scrambled back to his feet and fired at her in return, but Hermione blocked it and retaliated with another jinx, which Draco sent flying in the opposite direction where it crashed into a suit of armour with a deafening clatter that didn’t stop either of them. Hermione responded swiftly, keeping up with Draco. Their spells, sometimes spoken, something silently, collided and repelled one another in a burst of light. Neither of them had noticed it until that moment that they had drifted into the centre of the classroom. The rest of the students had stopped practising, watching as their encounter turned into a small duel. Even Snape himself wasn’t stopping them. Several surprised gasps rose around them. “Ugh, get off me!” Hermione squeaked in pain, wriggling beneath him as she tried to push his chest away from her face and get some air. Draco let out a pained gasp of his own when he felt his knee twist against the floor. “You heard her!
