@codependencykate: #greenscreen part 1 of how a dismissive avoidant changes and how you can make a difference #dismissiveavoidance #emotionalneglect #marriage
This just cracked open my brain in a wild way. My husband is more of an anxious attacher bc his mom was very codependent with him. I am avoidant (only child, emotional neglect) and he now looks to me to be SEEN and I struggle to validate him the way he needs but also I feel like he asks me to be every role for him that he should be getting from a community/village that we don’t currently have. 🫨 thanks for talking about this stuff

I hear you but want to dispel any theory about boys growing into dismissive, avoidant men that somehow always circles back to what their mothers did or didn’t do. Where was the father?

I’m super interested in the connection to not attuning to your infant - example sleep training, my mom said that she would put me in my crib at 7pm and leave me until 7am because that is what the doctor told her to do. Is ignoring worse than still face?

What do you do when your dismissive avoidant wife accuses you of being a dismissive avoidant because you have a hard time dealing with their dismissal of everything you bring to them? She literally pretends it never happened.

Dismissive avoidant partners were created from the belief that you have to toughen up boys! Dismissed their emotions especially those that are dreamed weak or feminine.

Chronic cheaters because they fear being seen but yearn to be seen so everyone gets different versions of them. Its much safer that way but they resent not being known fully and loved by their partner because they think theyre flawed so they cheat and ruin that relationship. Repeat cycle.

You know, this is a fantastic take. I love attachment theory and it’s an area of my focus and there is a reason why MEN are the examples of dismissive avoidant. They’re ALLOWED to behave this way. It’s insecure attachment to such an extreme. Women typically aren’t afforded this freedom. Now women are done dealing with this behavior as adults, especially when it’s excused as “boys will be boys.”
