@ibrahim.ismaila.a: When you see the people surrounding Malam Nasiru El-Rufa’i before now one tends to ask where are they when they need to truly stand by him? It is within this context that his recent personal statement entitled “My Relationships and the Aftermath” make real sense. Political relationships especially in Nigeria is amazing! MY RELATIONSHIPS AND THE AFTERMATH Some people have expressed concern about what they see as the silence of some of my colleagues, friends and brothers in my current situation, especially those I openly supported in the past or was very close to. Throughout my life, I have tried to do what I can for my colleagues, friends, family and humanity at large, guided by my Islamic faith, the Arewa upbringing I was raised with, my personal principles, and above all, my conscience. Over the years, I stood by people and supported causes I believed in, sometimes in difficult circumstances and with great personal sacrifice. I did not do it for praise, gratitude or repayment; I did it because I believed it was the right thing to do. Those were my own choices and I take responsibility for them. Likewise, the people I once supported have the right to make their own choices now that circumstances have changed. Some may speak, others may remain silent. Some may even deny our relationship or try to rewrite our history. Their reasons are theirs, and I will not judge them because their response differs from what others or I expected. Hardship reveals the true nature of relationships. What I have learned in these difficult past months will make me, calmly and without regret, reconsider some of my relationships and what those who see me as a role model expect from me. This is not an accusation or judgment; it is just part of understanding people and life more deeply. I do not regret standing with people when I believed it was right. And I hold no grudge against anyone who chooses not to do for me what I did for them. I prefer to stay faithful to the principles that guided my actions, rather than let the behavior of others change those principles. As for any injustice, ingratitude or harm done to me, I seek no revenge. Almighty Allah has the full power to take account, and to Him I leave that judgment - in this world and the Hereafter. In the end, each of us must live with the consequences of his choices, and history will judge as it deems fit. What matters most to me is to be at peace with my conscience, and above all, at peace with Almighty Allah. Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai 23rd September, 2026 #El-RufaiRelationships#freemalam
