I cut my dad off at 18 6 years ago, I don't know if he'll accept me now or not even though he spent 2 years trying to get me back but I won't be upset if he doesn't that's his choice just like it was my choice to go no contact in the first place. that dad owns her nothing

the affairs was his fault, the consequence was his lost his family. the dad tries to keep his relationship with his daughter and she,with her own words,says you figuratively dead to me for 17 years. her consequence for that is she lost her father. lets call a spade a spade. its unfortunate however that was there choices.

As a grandfather, I fully understand him. My sons both did the same thing and now whenever they are annoyed with me, they cut off my access to my grandsons. Been repeating it every year for 7 now. It's torture for the kids and the grandfather's.

The affair was ADULT business that unfortunately impacted the children. The daughter should have NEVER been placed in ADULT business, love for his children should have been communicated OVER & OVER by BOTH parents. By dissolution of the father/daughter relationship for 17 years, he does NOT KNOW her. He could work on building a relationship with her via family counseling but is it worth his peace?
