Tbh they did say that Batman 2 would be the last movie. What’s stopping him from playing the same character, just in a different universe? Hes an actor, it’s not like he’s bound to one character or one version of a character.

Don't get me wrong, The Batman is amazing. That being said, it would probably be the worst decision in the DCU. That would mean no Bat Family, no League of Assassins or Ra's al Ghul, a watered down and 'realistic' Rogue's Gallery and a weak Batman.
