Early morning and or driving at night will be your best friend! My mom always drove at night for trips when we would go to Oregon from Washington.

my daughter is 16 months and we did a 7 hour road trip with her this summer (she HATES the car past the 45 minute mark) and we left at 430. I woke her up at 330 and got her changed and let her run around a bit, then we put her in the car at 430 and she went back to sleep quickly. we took a break at 4 hours and ate and let her play at a park and then she went back to sleep for a nap once we got back in the car. middle of the night road trips work best at this age!

I always leave super early in the morning just to avoid as much traffic as I can on road trips. 😅 The early mornings are a must

@Caitlin Vulistis: I totally know it’s rough right now because she’s a toddler but just wait in a couple years she will be a great road trip kid - my kids were this way too and now we can bust out a 10 hour road trip with only needed stops lol

I do road trips with my dad, sister and her fam. We always leave at like 3am for traffic purposes starting the trip, but typically leave at like 9am coming home because leaving vacation early feels like blasphemy. We haven’t done one since she had her daughter(around M’s age), and we may have to leave early coming home now too. 😅

we did the same thing for a 6 hour drive!!! left at 4:30 and she slept almost the whole way and when she was awake she was so calm and relaxed!
