I personally don’t need my guests to do anything we do ask them the put the trash in the outside bins to avoid bugs we had guests stay for over a week and leave the house full of garbage and then we had to deal with smells and also ants. So that’s our only instruction

I always feel good about doing the dishes, making sure any and all trash is in the trash can and putting my towels in a good pile or laundry basket, whether it’s a hotel or an air bnb. That makes me feel like I’ve made the cleaners job easy without doing more then I should have to as a guest

we clean the whole place before we leave 🤣🤣🤣 we do strip the bedding but we do not wash it though we do wash and dry the towels. we also wash our dishes.

laundry on a pile (bedsheets and towels), any used dishes in a turned on dishwasher, and trash out is a reasonable thing to do imo. it should never be mandatory, but it's a nice and polite thing to do as a guest if you have the time.

I’m a super host for three properties. My guests pay a cleaning fee. Their only responsibility is to make sure appliances like the coffee maker is turned off and lock the door behind them. That’s it!

load the dishwasher, toss the towels in the bathroom in a pile and throw your trash in the trash can (like in the kitchen or whatever). that's it.

Every A b&b I stayed at always asked us to start the laundry. I actually don’t like that bc some of them have had sour towels!!! Which told me they ask us to start it then don’t get around to coming til a day or days later and they don’t even bother rewash if them.. if it’s anything I can’t standdddd is sour towels!!! I just did all that work washing myself to need another shower!!! I started traveling with my own towels bc I need a fresh smelling towel. Idgaf what color of towels I have I always bleach them bc the smell of a fresh towel that’s been bleached is the best!!! It smells of fresh linens! That’s what I want to smell drying off. Not sour old rotten towels.

I’ll wipe down a surface if I make a mess like if I spilled coffee or my make-up gets on the counter I’ll wipe it off with paper towel or something, but I’m not doing a full clean

I don't stay in Airbnb but I travel regularly for work and stay in all manner of hotel/motel/apartments and I would leave all the towels in a pile, wipe around if I've spilled anything, stack any dishes I've used so it's obvious they need to be washed or swapped out. and I pull back the bed covers (mostly so I can check if I've left anything. but I figure it can't hurt to air the mattress) if I ever stayed in an Airbnb and paid a cleaning fee I wouldn't do more than that.

I had one Airbnb that had us start a load before we left, BUT they had a 2pm check in, and noon check out so I felt it was justified lol and I got the extra time

we always try to do dishes and at least clean up all the mess (wrappers and stuff) and wipe basic dirt and if we take the dog we take a quick broom for the big hairs

I strip the bed,fold it neatly and put them on a pile along with the towels(and I fold the duvet if theres one)..I wash the dishes(but then I mostly have takeaways anyway with disposable cutlery)..I take the rubbish out..and if I spill something,I wipe it..doesn't have to be on some deep clean typa shi..I just dont like leaving places in disarray

Also working in house keeping it makes the job harder sometimes. I used to find it slowed me down if guests remove the sheets because then you’d have to rummage through and separate the towels, pillows, sheets, and duvet cover while if you did it yourself you already had your piles for the laundry.

I think Airbnb should have a universal check out for all hosts to have (aka nothing like a hotel). I’ll always pile towels and garbages but it should be a universal checkout procedure.
