When I had my son who’s 10 yrs old was 3 yrs old I had many concerns ( btw my 14 yr old is autistic) so I asked to have him evaluated with a neurologist and when I talked to her about my concerns , she told me “ mamma knows best” if you think there’s something going on, you advocate for them and don’t let people tell you otherwise… my 3 kids have adhd, two autistic and adhd, intellectual disability etc…

I would stat with his physician, then ask about resources in your local area to help you to complete documents needed for his school and other places needed to have documentations. Good luck.

My son was diagnosed at 2 and it was requested by his pediatrician. He wasn't meeting his milestones or talking so she referred him to a specialist at the mind institute. I knew from 6 months old he was autistic.

My granddaughter was 2 when her pediatrician did a pediatric diagnosis, then when she was 3 her doctor sent a referral to a psychologist and there she was officially diagnosed!

I asked my child's doctor and got referred to a pediatric developmental psychologist for evaluation. Right now we're doing the SSI app and she just had an evaluation with another developmental psychologist for their process.

Express your concerns to his dr and ask for a referral.they may say they don’t believe he is but push for it. My son’s dr kept saying “it typical boy behavior” and once he was diagnosed she agreed with it. My mom now says she thinks I’m autistic from my behavior when I was a kid lol never hurts to get checked. ADHD is on the spectrum as well.

Girl, I am a special ed para. I have a 14 year old son with ADHD, and severe impulsivity issues. I had him tested in the 5th grade for autism (at the suggestion of his therapist) and the doctor that did the testing literally said I was just looking for a diagnosis. His current therapist thinks he may be, his middle school counselor made a comment about it, and now his current neurologist (that he sees for his Tourette’s) has set up for him to be tested again at a facility in a larger city than where we are. My son is in the academically gifted classes, he makes really good grades, but make no mistake about it, he is neurodivergent. He is being tested at the end of august.
