Let me tell you something about Tommy Tuberville. For someone who says he cares about jobs, the economy, and his state, he sure spends a lot of time talking about trans people. At some point you have to ask why that’s where so much of his energy goes. I’ll tell you a story. In high school, I played football with a guy who couldn’t stop talking about how much he hated gay people. “Don’t play that gay stuff with me,” he’d say, every chance he got. Then one day I walked into the locker room and saw him kissing another guy. That taught me something. The people who shout the loudest about other people’s lives are often the ones hiding something about their own. A lot of Republicans call themselves Christians, then spend their time condemning and targeting others instead of helping the people they’re supposed to serve. Be careful who you trust. Loud outrage is often a cover for something else.
