If 3 guys split a $300 tab, $100 each. The waiter takes the money to pay the bill, and the manger if feeling generous and gives them a $50 discount. Turns out the waiter is shady and pockets $20 of the $50 discount. He gets back to the table and explains they got a discount! $30! (Left of the $50). So each guy is handed back $10, now spending only $90. If they each spent $90x3, they spent $270 and the waiter has $20 totaling $290. Wheres the other $10

3 guys paid $10 each($30) for a basketball. The owner wanted to give them back $5 so he sent the cashier to give it to them but he decided he wanted to keep $2 and gave them all back a dollar apiece so they all paid $9 apiece. 3X9 is 27 and the cashier kept 2 that equals 29 where did the other dollar go?

it always threw me off that there were "laws" and "rules" of math....the "order of oporation" to me should be the requirements in writing the problem...not figuring out the sum...you should solve the problem the way its written.
