@bosun_bona: OND0 STATE, WHERE ARE WE GOING? While Ogun State is moving forward, what exactly is happening in Ondo State? Today, Ogun State is making headlines with the signing of agreements with DP World for the development of the Gateway Deep Sea Port and Blue Marine Special Economic Zone, with more than $7 billion in initial investment projected and the potential for thousands of jobs and expanded economic activity. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu witnessed the signing in Paris. And this should make every Ondo indigene pause and ask a simple question: Where is our own deep seaport? Ondo State also has a coastline. We also have a deep-sea port project. In fact, the Federal Government originally approved the Ondo Deep Sea Port in 2023, and its licence was revalidated in 2025 after administrative setbacks. So my question is no longer whether Ondo has the opportunity. The question is. what is our state government doing to turn that opportunity into reality? A seaport is not merely a port. It can become a catalyst for industries, logistics, agriculture, exports, tourism, jobs, housing, transportation and massive private-sector investment. The Ondo government itself has described the project as having the potential to stimulate industrialisation and economic activity. Fed Ministry of Info & Nat Orientation Yet, as we watch other states aggressively pursue major investments, Ondo people deserve to see the same level of urgency and determination. We cannot build an economy around appointments alone. We need projects. We need investors. We need industries. We need infrastructure. We need jobs. We need an economic vision that goes beyond sharing positions. This is not about attacking anybody. It is about asking our leaders legitimate questions: What is the roadmap for the Ondo Deep Sea Port? What investors are being engaged? What is the timeline for commencement? What concrete steps are being taken to make Ondo an economic hub in the South-West? If Ogun can take its opportunity and pursue a multibillion-dollar port and industrial zone, Ondo must not be left behind. Our coastline is an economic asset. Our people are our greatest resource. Our state deserves more than promises. Ondo State must move from talking about potential to delivering economic transformation.
