How is this a waste of money when people are studying fields that can directly contribute to making society more inclusive? Are you saying you don't want research on people with disabilities, even though many of them contribute to the economy and work despite significant barriers? And why dismiss journalism degrees? Would you really prefer a media landscape where everyone has the same voice and perspective? Journalism is important precisely because it allows different perspectives to be investigated, questioned, and brought to the public. Not every degree has to lead directly to a high-paying job to have social value. Some fields contribute through research, representation, critical thinking, creativity, and improving how society understands different groups of people

University is also about the arts and humanities. They create value in culture, entertainment, and tradition. Just because they don’t come with the money doesn’t mean they’re useless. I don’t want to live in a world where learning is only worth it if it’s building AI robots and tech.
