How I grew my glutes as a 5’0” short petite girl: 1) progessive overload (lift heavier over time) in weights such as hip thrusts, squats, Bulgarian split squats and hip abductions. I tried to stay within the 6-10 rep range and once I started to be able to lift higher than that, I would increase my weights. YOU WILL NOT GROW YOUR GLUTES IF YOU STAY AT THE SAME WEIGHTS. SO PICK UP THE HEAVIER WEIGHTS LADIES OMG! 2) you MUST train close to failure which is optimal for muscle growth. Stop chasing the “burn” or “sweat” in workout classes. Start chasing strength. Stop picking up the 10lb dumbbells and start training HEAVY. That means lifting heavy weights and lifting in the 6-10 rep range. Pilates will not grow your glutes. Strength training will!!!! 3) eat 1.0-1.2g of protein per body weight in lbs! Yes, this is very high protein but it signals to your body to build muscle rather than fat. This also helps with satiety, curbing cravings, and keeping your hormones healthy. I aim to eat 35-40g of protein per meal, which helps me not snack throughout the day. Eat proper meals and stop grazing!!!! 4) eat in a slight calorie surplus. I tracked my calories so I knew what my maintainance was and then I slowly increased my calories over time so there was minimal weight gain. Eating enough is critical to glute growth. You will NOT see glute growth in a calorie deficit. I made a huge mistake of eating low calories but expecting to grow my glutes. That just led me to feeling super weak in the gym, not being able to progessive overload, and feeling “stuck”. So Trust me. EATTTT to fuel!!!! 5) minimal HIIT workouts to keep your cortisol levels low. Stick to low intensity cardio such a incline walks or outdoor walks. I kept my steps high at around 12-14k per day and stopped running or doing any high intensity workouts. Now I just do 1 Barry’s workout a month for my cardiovascular health. You really want to signal to your body to grow muscle and it can’t do that if you’re overtraining and overdoing it on the cardio. Theres a lot more i could say so lmk if you want a part 2! And follow if this helps 🥰 #glutegrowth #petitefitness #glutetransformation #bodyrecomposition
