It is a profound contradiction to support a political ideology for personal safety while ignoring the foundational framework of that very ideology—which, from its inception, was explicitly mapped out as a colonial project applicable to whichever territory was chosen.  Regarding Theodor Herzl, the founder of political Zionism, his early writings and diaries outlined a clear strategy for acquiring land—whether it was Palestine or Argentina. Herzl explicitly noted that any settlement of a land involving an already existing native population would necessitate handling the local inhabitants through discrete removal. In his foundational texts like Der Judenstaat (The Jewish State) and his personal diaries, he detailed plans to "spirit the penniless population across the border" while expropriating private property, demonstrating that the mechanics of displacement were built into the blueprint regardless of geographic location. Because the core concept was rooted in European-style colonial settlement, it treated the indigenous populations of whichever region was selected—be it East Africa (Uganda), South America (Argentina), or the Middle East—as an obstacle to be managed, displaced, or bypassed.  Seeking refuge or protection as a marginalized individual is entirely understandable, but transferring that allegiance to a state-building project built on the displacement of another indigenous population merely trades one form of vulnerability for participation in another's systematic disenfranchisement. Claiming sanctuary under a system whose historical blueprint relies on uprooting native populations does not resolve injustice; it just shifts who is bearing the cost of it.
