Lawyers for an Ohio man accused of murdering his wife say he was telling the truth when he told investigators an intruder apparently shot his wife in the middle of the night as she slept in their bed. Caleb Flynn was romantically involved with a woman he met at church when Ashley Flynn was killed in their home in Tipp City, Ohio, on Feb. 16, 2026. On Friday (September 25), Caleb Flynn's attorney Patrick Mulligan questioned an FBI agent about a tipster's claim that a hitman had been paid to kill Ashley Flynn. Andrea Kinzig testified in direct-exam that a man who identified himself as Zachary Macintosh called the Tipp City Police Department and said a man who remodeled apartments with Flynn at the Wright-Patterson Airforce Base said "that somebody by the name of Christopher Hill had been hired to kill Caleb Flynn's wife." Kinzig and another agent tried to talk to Macintosh but "he was unresponsive," so they went to the contractor, Benjamin Crumroin (sp?) who worked with Flynn "who was supposedly the source of this information." Crumroin "reported that he and Zachary MaIntosh had talked about the homicide of Ashley Flynn, just about what they had heard about it, theories that they may or may not have had," Kinzig said. "Mr. Crumroin originally did not remember talking about anybody being hired to kill Ashley Flynn, but he then advised that he may have offered up just as a general theory, that somebody on his crew, by the name of Chris, who had some mental health issues, may have could have been hired to kill Ashley Flynn, but Mr. Crumroin made it very clear that he did not believe that to be true," Kinzig said. In cross, Mulligan said, "So you were provided the name of a person who allegedly committed a homicide. Did anyone do a record check on that fellow?" "His name is very generic, and we we don't even know who the correct Chris Hill is," Kinzig testified. "And did anyone attempt to contact him?" Mulligan asked. "Based on the information that was provided by Mr. Crumroin, no," Kinzig testified. Mulligan asked if the tipster called twice and later called again "and stated that Chris Hill had entered the residence through the side door." Judge Jeannette N. Pratt sustained an objection, so Kinzig didn't answer. Mulligan said,"So bottom line, that tip was never followed up on?" Kinzig said the tip was investigated "by discussing it with Mr. Crumroin." "But there was a decision made to not pursue it any further?" Mulligan asked. "Correct," Kinzig answered. #law #crime #court
