Divide a Circle Into 8 Perfect Spaces — No Measuring You don’t need a ruler or math to divide a circle evenly. With a pair of dividers, you can lay out 8 equal spaces using basic geometry. Old-school layout, accurate, and repeatable on any material. In this video I divide a circle into 8 equal spaces using only dividers — no ruler, no tape measure, and no math. First, I set the dividers to slightly more than half the diameter, but less than the full diameter. From opposite points on the circle, I strike intersecting arcs. Where those arcs cross gives me a line that’s perpendicular through the center of the circle. That gives me two diameters at 90 degrees, splitting the circle into four equal quadrants. From there, I use the dividers again to bisect each quadrant, creating 8 evenly spaced points around the circle. This is an old-school layout method that works the same way on cardboard, wood, or steel. If you can scribe a line, you can do accurate bolt circles and hole layouts without measuring or calculating anything. #metalworking #fabrication #layout #geometry #math @Marvin
