@nomtastickim: Yay for Day 1️⃣4️⃣ of #100AsianRestaurantsInTheDMV! For today’s feature, we’re at Yuan Fu Vegetarian in Rockville. This was actually my first time there, and both @Minje and I were very impressed 😬 We visited during the day so we got to take advantage of their lunch specials. They’re available on weekdays (except holidays) from 11-2:30, and you get an app, rice and entree for $11-15‼️ We ended up getting 3 dishes to share: crispy eggplants ($11), moo shi vegetables ($11), and their pineapple chicken ($15). To start, we got 2 hot and sour soups + their stuffed curry dumplings. We genuinely enjoyed every dish, but for me, standouts were their eggplant + moo shi. I especially enjoyed the wrap that came with! They were very thin but super chewy. And the veggies were stir fried to perfection so they had an excellent texture to them✨ All their mock meats and seafood are made from vegetable products. Ex. Their duck is made with layers of tofu skin, their squid is made from Japanese white yam, etc 🐙 The mock chicken we had was pretty tasty! It doesn’t taste like chicken, but they’re not trying to pass it off as such. Minje actually said this was her favorite dish out of the bunch, and Mary, the owner, said it’s one of their most popular dishes. Additionally, all their dishes are cooked in vegetable oil, and they don’t use any MSG or dairy products in their cooking. And they also have a non fat menu with only steamed dishes if you want something extra healthy. OH and there’s a gluten free section as well! I almost forgot 😅 Like most Maryland gems, this spot is located in an unassuming little strip mall. Service was great, and Mary was so, SO kind. I just wish they had music playing in the background or something, lol. It was super quiet in there.
