@michaelreaction1: In 2002, 16-year-old Brian Banks was a rising Black football star at Long Beach Polytechnic High School in California, with a scholarship opportunity at USC ahead of him. Then his classmate, Wanetta Gibson, accused him of rape and kidnapping. Banks maintained that they had a consensual encounter and denied raping her. Facing a possible sentence of 41 years to life, Banks ultimately pleaded no contest and received six years. He spent more than five years in prison, then lived under parole supervision and had to register as a sex offender. His football future was gone. Years later, Gibson contacted Banks on Facebook. When they met, she admitted on video that there had been no rape or kidnapping and that she had fabricated the accusation. In 2012, a judge overturned Banks’ conviction and dismissed the charges. He lost years of his life over an accusation that his accuser eventually admitted was false. The conviction was cleared but the football career and future he had before the accusation could never simply be returned.

Sad very sad. I pray that his “What could have been” can turn into “Look at what I am now.” I pray for his patience to know his life, though redirected, can now move on to be better and for peace to know one day the answers he’s looking for will become clear. Peace be with you young man.
