The letter E is one of the most important letters for students to learn, and I wanted to show you a little clip of how I introduce a new letter during phonics! 🥹📚 When I introduce the letter, I want students saying the LETTER, the PICTURE, and the SOUND, and I always add a movement to help make it sticky for them. Then we do it over and over again until I have 100% participation. Phonics simply cannot work if students are sitting there watching the teacher do all the work. They need to be SAYING the sounds, hearing the sounds, manipulating sounds, and practicing constantly. I hold my students to a really high expectation during phonics because these little moments add up! And your ENERGY matters!!! Phonics has so many quick drills, so I keep my energy high, move quickly, and make sure the kids are actively participating the entire time. After introducing E, I showed students different cards with the letter E and had them think of words that have E in them. They did such a beautiful job 🥹❤️ Honestly, these are the kinds of videos I WISH I had when I was in college studying to become a teacher.
