He spoke about Nepal and the severe effects of climate change, especially the recent Bhotekoshi River floods. He highlighted the destruction of lives, homes, infrastructure, hydropower projects and livelihoods. He argued that countries such as Nepal, which contribute relatively little to global emissions, are suffering serious consequences from climate change. He called for climate justice and greater international responsibility. He emphasized the need for climate finance, technology transfer and international support for disaster preparedness, recovery and reconstruction. He highlighted the special vulnerability of mountain and Himalayan countries. He discussed stronger early-warning systems and scientific cooperation to reduce future disaster risks. He also addressed Nepal’s changing political situation following the Gen Z movement and introduced the priorities of his government. Nepal’s contribution to UN peacekeeping and its role in international cooperation were also part of the broader message
