I worked at a childcare facility when I was younger and we did “gentle hands”. I’ve been doing that with my son bc he loves to pull my hair and hit🙃 I just take his hands and gently rub it on my arm or belly or wherever and tell him gentle hands and I’ve had success of just saying gentle hands and him changing from hitting to just rubbing or slightly patting me!!

My 13 month old has started doing this too. But when I tell her no she’s gets all cute in the face and tries to kiss me. Obviously I give in and kiss her but I’m like you can’t hit me and then act all cute 🤦🏻♀️

She hits only you because shes the most comfortable with you! Tbh i would ignore and redirect. The more you play into it the more of a game it becomes. I would do exactly what youre doing! Shes learning what’s acceptable 🤍

I feel at this age they don’t understand “we don’t” very well. I usually made sounds like I’m hurt, and say ouch, hurt mommy. No ma’am. Things like that. Let her know if she does so that, that it causes you pain.

I would grab my daughters hand, tell her “nice hands”, “we don’t hit”, and then mimick and nice hand example, then get her attention to something different. It took us a handful of times, but now she doesn’t hit me (or anyone) anymore. ❤️

We taught my baby “gentle petting” for the animals because he was aggressive with them prior now if he hits me I just say no be gentle then he will pet me softly 😂

Mine isn’t hitting but I think it’s bc he doesn’t have time to bc he is constantly throwing himself on the floor when I tell him not to open the trash can. 🙃

I grab his hand and say no hitting I get up and walk away from him and tell him I will not sit with him if he hits me. He will cry but it has been pretty effective
