@shesninaalexander: #bluelightglasses #bluelight #redlight #cantsleep #insomnia Blue light can keep you awake because your brain uses blue wavelengths as a strong “daytime” signal. Your eyes contain special light-sensitive cells that communicate directly with your brain’s circadian clock. Blue-rich light—especially around 460–480 nm—activates these cells strongly. In the evening, that can: * Suppress or delay melatonin, the hormone that helps signal nighttime. * Increase alertness, making your brain feel less ready for sleep. * Shift your circadian rhythm later, so you may not feel sleepy when you normally would. * Make falling asleep harder, particularly after bright or prolonged exposure. Phones, tablets, TVs, and LED lighting all produce blue light, although brightness and how long you’re exposed matter a lot. A dim phone isn’t necessarily as disruptive as sitting under very bright overhead LEDs. If you’re trying to fall asleep soon, dimming the screen and room lights and using your phone’s Night Shift/warm-color mode can reduce the blue component. The biggest improvement usually comes from lowering overall light intensity for the last hour or two before bed.
