My dad has IgA Nephropathy too, it’s very hard. If no one has warned you about this already, getting sick and even getting vaccines can cause an acute kidney injury like what happened to your husband. We didn’t know & now he’s not able to get any vaccines because it’s an autoimmune disease & his body will start attacking itself any time he has any kind of immune response to something.

My older sister was diagnosed with this at 16. She’s been very lucky that it hasn’t progressed but my kidney has been on deck for over 20 years. It is truly wild how fast this progressed for your husband, I’m so sorry. She had migraines they never connected to this but had blood in her urine and recently BP issues.

I was diagnosed with IGA when I was 16 they found it by accident and monitored every year at the nephrologist, I’m 41 now and doing great. But most aren’t diagnosed until 40s/50s and most of the time it’s too late. I’m so glad he’s doing well! Thank you for sharing!
