Dementia messes with spatial processing or perception. Stairs and escalators are horrible, but you can see it happen when switching from colors of flooring or even texture. Depth perception is greatly affected. Some with dementia even shuffle feet because they feel like they’re going to fall.

My dad had a rare disease called Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD) that is basically a rapid form of dementia. He passed 2 months after first symptoms but during that time he was terrified of stairs. Now it makes more sense to me seeing this. I thought he just didn’t trust his ability to walk because that went downhill fast.

As the camera man/woman/person you should’ve been holding her drink. Just for fall risk, she should have 2 hands ready to grab her/help her 💛 even if you had a phone in once hand, your own drink in the other hand, holding another drink in your elbow or armpit 👍🏼 ~ I help my fall risk grandpa up/down stairs at my sister’s university volleyball games. So coming from love and similar experiences💛💛💛
