Most ppl do not like my take on this. But the downfall started with Halo Reach. That’s not to say it was a bad game, it was great. But the circumstances around Reach’s creation show all that. At the time of H3 that was meant to be Bungie’s magnum opus. It’s swan song. They were tired of working on halo and wanted to move on. BUT Microsoft essentially still had them for 2 more halo games, and didn’t want to let them work on anything else. That’s how we ended up with H3 ODST and HReach. By the time they got to Reach they just didn’t care to some extent what was in the game and that’s why we ended up with the Lore changes surrounding Reach and etc. the quality of reach is just a testament to the overall quality of gaming studios at that time.

I wish Bungie never left, plenty of studios can juggle different IPs. I get they were under Microsoft’s thumb at the time and wanted freedom. But they immediately went under another. Bungie also said they didn’t want the commitment to Halo for all that time, then immediately committed to 10 years of Destiny. Idk man we could’ve had something different
