The Nenets are an indigenous people of northern Siberia, traditionally living in the Russian Arctic region of the Yamal Peninsula. They are semi-nomadic reindeer herders, one of the last large-scale pastoralist cultures that still migrate seasonally across the tundra; a vast, treeless landscape that stretches across the Arctic Circle. Our anthropological trip to Siberia will start at Salekhard airport, where we will meet the guide. We will begin our journey to the Nenet nomad camp and upon arrival our hosts will welcome us. We will spend several days living with a family of Nenets shepherds, participating in their lives and daily activities: share all meals, spend the nights in a chum, collect ice and learn the technique they use to obtain water, collect firewood to keep the chum stove always lit, go out in search of the reindeer herd, accompany them fishing, and learn how women make traditional clothing from reindeer skin. Above all, we will discover the ecosystem that will surround us, delve into the role of women within this society, and have the opportunity to share long and interesting talks to learn and understand the Nenet worldview and beliefs. ► Living with the Nenets 🗓️ From 28th March to 5th April 2026 ℹ️ More info at lastplaces.com ©️ Videos and photo by @anibal_bueno and @_luciamadrid_ #lasttribes #travelisknowledge #lastplaces #natgeotravel #natgeoadventure #culturaltourism #tribes #tribaltrips #responsibletourism #responsibletravel #travelphotography #natgeopeople #discoverearth #culturalheritage #indigenousvoices #triballife #localstories #offthebeatentrack #consciousadventure #slowtravel #culturalexplorer #ethicaladventure #remoteplaces #preservetraditions #natgeohumanity #siberia #russia #nenets #snowtravel #wintertrip
