They get dumber, but it’s not “designed to,” like they’re trying to hose you. The models review the conversation with each reply, which means there’s more tokens it has to process.

This is only true if you continue to use the same session. Creating a new session fixes this. I’ve used local models to the point where it literally starts speaking gibberish.
