@brighamofutah: Though relatively recent, the stamp of early Mormonism is inescapably impressed upon the landscape of American West. For example, Kolob Canyons. Little known outside the faith, the name of Kolob bears great significance in Mormonism. Within the belief of Mormon religions, the movement’s founder, Joseph Smith, translated the Book of Abraham using an Ancient Egyptian papyrus text which the church bought from a traveling exhibit, along with four mummies, in Ohio in 1835. W.W. Phelps’s hymn was originally set to an original tune that LDS congregations found difficult to sing. The LDS Church changed it in 1985 to an old English folk melody called “Kingsfold”, also known as “Dives and Lazarus” which may date back to the 15th century.
