@well.north.living: Meet Alaska’s ultimate sea monster: the Lion’s Mane Jellyfish! 🪼✨ This is a young one we saw floating in the harbor, but soon it will be huge! Just to be clear, it is not dead and very much alive, despite my child thinking otherwise 😂 These jellyfish love cold water and are truly magnificent! 🐋 Their trailing tentacles can stretch over 100 feet long— way longer than a blue whale. 👻 Never touch a dead lions mane jellyfish — their tentacles (attached or not) can still sting you for up to 24 days! 🎨 These jellies are gorgeous and change colors as they age, from a pale pink (like the one in the video) or yellow to deep reds and purples as adults. ⏳ In just one year they grow from tiny microscopic larvae to these massive, giant creatures which is pretty much out of this world! Mother Nature is wild and I’m here for it! Hope to see another one soon! 🪼❤️ #alaskalife #lionsmanejellyfish #oceancreatures #mothernature #wellnorthliving
