She sacrificed her daughter’s education for political and social ideology. While her white leftist colleagues wouldn’t play those types of games with their own children’s education.

She grew up in Iowa, then went to Norte Dame University and then University N. Carolina. She’s educated but her experience was much different than the place she sent her daughter to

I struggled for 10 years to rent a condo to keep my son in a good school system. My son was not an experiment. The month before he graduated I closed on my new home 10 minutes outside of that school district.

I don’t understand what she was attempting to do. So she thought other high income families would mirror what she was doing? Black/Brown schools are under resourced. Their funding comes from State and Federal governments. This is how you address resources, not being a (one) high income family enrolling your one child in an under resourced school.

The thing is, as a parent you have to have your kid’s back. And when your kid is telling you multiple times that she isn’t getting enough out of her education, you do something about that!

I need to just sit down and read the articles myself, but from everything I’ve seen about it, this feels like an incomplete experiment. Observations were made, a hypothesis was formed, and they sent her to this school. But then what? I haven’t seen anyone talk about what other steps or actions they took. Did they just expect things to improve because their daughter was there? I get the idea and what she was trying to do, but it feels half baked. And at the end of the day her daughter’s education was the casualty. I feel awful for her daughter.

My aunt thought I would send my son to the schools I went to growing up. Hell no. My baby is in schools much better than mine and I was in honors programs. My son is in programs I could never dream of being in. He is going farther than me and that is the point of being a parent. Plus I plan on using all the legacy admissions that I can. He already is getting notices from the colleges me and my immediate family members attended.

Survivors guilt is real, she probably has some mixed guilt. I understand her doing that, I also think that she thought her daughter was learning mastery. She should/could have been more hands on with the Algebra curriculum and understanding what the standards are.

I’ve occasionally heard people from elite quarters say stuff like they want their kids in public schools as if it were some noble thing. (Mind you, they typically don’t participate in any political organizing) This is a perspective you see among the over-educated, meaning people with professional, medical or law degrees
