I’ve been poor and I’ve been rich, I’ve been in the middle, I still enjoyed a torta in all stages of life. It’s such a comfort food.

I think most of us growing up in a mexican household whose money was limited grew up like this. I remember my grama would make a miracle with just a can of corn. it's funny how when we were little we felt "poor" n wanted much more. n now as adults, that we have much more, we just wish we could go back

One of my FAVORITE meals at my grandmas in Mexico…. Never knew how poor we were because no matter what was made it tasted like it was for royalty with the amount of love and care that was put into every dish.

Living my life! :
We were poor growing up, mother would buy a big bag of flour, beans and rice. Her friend knew a few rancheros that gave us vegetables, her other friend worked at Olvera egg ranch. My mother rolled tortillas, made the best beans, rice and anything she created. RIP Mom what I would give to eat your food one more time. Miss you everyday.

Love the TV in the kitchen. I lost my mom when I was 8 and as her memory starts to fade the one thing I do remember is her having a TV in the kitchen. 🥰 Thank you for bringing me back a core memory. Blessings to you and your family
