@lovinmaltaofficial: Dozens of delegates walked out of the United Nations General Assembly as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu took to the podium in New York on Thursday. Footage from inside the hall showed a stream of representatives leaving their seats as Netanyahu arrived, while a smaller section of the audience, including members of the Israeli delegation, applauded. The walkout continued as Netanyahu prepared to begin his address, leaving rows of seats visibly empty. Images showed members of the Palestinian delegation among those who left the chamber. Before beginning his speech, Netanyahu responded to those leaving by calling them “moral cowards” and inviting anyone else who wanted to leave to do so. He later accused countries whose representatives had walked out of hypocrisy over their positions towards Israel. Netanyahu went on to defend Israel’s military actions and reject accusations of genocide against Palestinians in Gaza, while also addressing Israel’s conflicts with Iran and other regional adversaries. The scenes inside the UN came as demonstrations were also held outside the organisation’s headquarters in New York ahead of Netanyahu’s address.
