أبو سعيد… مدرسة من خبرة الأولين. ما شاء الله عليه، رغم سنّه، أصرّ بنفسه أن يقتلع هذا الكاروب من النخلة ويهديني إياه. جلس يطرق ويعمل بيده حتى فصله كاملًا، ومجهود ليس بالسهل حتى على الشاب، فما بالك برجل في هذا العمر. الله يعطيه الصحة والعافية ويطول في عمره. وخلال العمل أعطاني من خبرته معلومات جميلة عن زراعة الكاروب والعناية به، وأكد أن اقتلاع الكاروب وزراعته في الوقت المناسب له دور مهم في نجاحه. وإذا كان بلا عروق، يُزرع بالطريقة المناسبة، وكانوا قديمًا يضعون في الحفرة بَعَر الحمير أو الشعير. وبعد فصله من النخلة يُغلق مكانه بالطين حتى لا يكون مدخلًا لسوسة النخيل. ونصح كذلك بعدم تخشيع الكرب أسفل الكاروب، بل يُقص ويُترك جزء منه للحماية، مع تقصير السعف وربطه جيدًا بعد الزراعة. شكرًا يا أبو سعيد على هذه الهدية الغالية، والأغلى منها علمك وخبرتك التي تنقلها لنا بكل محبة. الله يحفظك ويعطيك الصحة والعافية. If the offshoot has no roots, it should be planted properly, and traditionally donkey manure or barley was placed in the planting hole. After removing the offshoot from the mother palm, the opening is sealed with mud to help prevent the red palm weevil from entering. He also advised not to pull away the lower dried frond bases around the offshoot, but instead to cut them and leave part of them for protection, while shortening the upper fronds and tying them securely after planting.
