Then people will complain, “Kaya hindi umuunlad ang Philippines,” and blame everything on the government, like everything is within their control. Wake up, people—it’s on us, too.
What’s the point of raising a child if you can’t afford to truly provide for them? I honestly don’t understand how some parents can watch their children grow up in an uncomfortable and financially unstable life. Especially when the parents themselves came from poverty and experienced firsthand how hard it is to struggle financially, yet they still choose to repeat the same cycle with their own children.
It’s so hard growing up financially unstable. You can’t always live your life the way you want because you weren’t born privileged. And as much as I’m grateful to be alive and to have been given the chance to live, I still can’t help but sometimes feel jealous of people who have parents who were financially prepared and genuinely wanted to become parents.
And this is one of the reasons I understand why some people support abortion. For me, being pro-choice is also about recognizing that bringing a child into the world is a huge responsibility. A child deserves more than just being born—they deserve care, stability, and parents who are genuinely prepared to raise them. I know abortion is a complicated and deeply personal issue, but I don’t think it should be discussed without also considering the reality of unwanted pregnancies, financial instability, and the lives that both the parent and child may have to live afterward.
Being born is one thing. Being prepared to give a child a decent life is another.
